UBS Securities LLC and Bloomberg Tradebook Canada Co.Canada Co. have been granted exemptions enabling institutional investors to trade futures and options through the Bloomberg Tradebook system and UBS.

The exemptions were reported in the latest Ontario Securities Commission bulletin.

The firms sought exemptions for trades in futures and options on behalf of institutional investors that are routed through the electronic order-routing system made available by Tradebook Canada and executed by UBS.

The exemptions were granted, subject to a number of conditions, notably, registration conditions, disclosure requirements, and the requirement that the trades are only carried out for institutional investors. The definition of institutional investor is extensive, including banks, mutual funds, pension funds and “accredited investors”, among many other entities.
