The Quebec Securities Commission says it wants to study the which proposes the creation of a super regulator in Quebec.

Bill 107, which would create the Agence nationale d’encadrement du secteur financier, was presented Wednesday in the province’s Assemblée nationale.

The QSC plans to carry out a thorough analysis of the Bill before commenting on it. “Over the next few weeks, the CVMQ will examine elements of the Bill and the effect it will have on the securities sector in Quebec.”

The QSC said it would gladly participate in public consultations are held on the bill.

The creation of the proposed superagency comes out of the Martineau Report, which was delivered late last year, calling for the creation of a single integrated regulator to cover Quebec’s financial services industry.
