(August 2 – 10:15 ET) – The Quebec Securities Commission is announcing the appointment of Jean-François Bernier as director, capital markets.

Bernier will be responsible for activities related to bids and the distribution of securities to the public, as well as information about issuers and their securities. “The securities industry is undergoing far-reaching changes, mainly because of the new information technologies that are changing the face of market. To be part of this wave of change is an exciting challenge”, says Bernier.

Bernier is a law graduate of Université de Sherbrooke, holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Université du Québec à Montréal, and has practiced business and securities law in prominent legal firms. He also taught a course in securities law at Université de Sherbrooke. Bernier was previously employed by a securities dealer.
