Nova Scotia is seeking feedback to update mortgage brokers and lenders legislation to enhance consumer protection.

A discussion paper and online consumer survey were released Tuesday to encourage input from industry and consumers.

Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations Minister Ramona Jennex says updating the legislation will provide clearer guidelines for mortgage brokers and lenders and enhance consumer protection.

Copies of the discussion paper and response booklet are being mailed to industry members.

The discussion paper and consumer survey are available on the department website at www.gov.ns.ca/snsmr/consumer.

The deadline for comment submissions is June 15.

The consultations are part of a broader review of the act, which will help determine if changes are required.
