Pierre Godin has been given the post of acting chair of the Quebec Securities Commission.

Godin’s mandate will begin on Nov. 4. He has been acting as special advisor to the chair of the QSC since February 2000, handling issues such as market structure and self-regulation.

Godin has worked in public service for over 15 years. From 1998 to 2000, he held the position of chief of staff for the CEO at the Caisse de dépôt et placement. In 1997, Godin was responsible for taxation and economic development as part of the office of the Ministre d’État à la Métropole. From 1987 to 1997, he managed several projects in the area of strategic planning and organisational development for the City of Montreal. He is an economist by training.

“I am honoured by the trust placed in me at such an important time in the history of the QSC,” says Godin. “Efforts in the upcoming months will be dedicated to key files on both the Quebec and the international fronts. I will ensure that the commission continues to effectively play its role in the securities market.”
