France’s securities regulator, the Autorité des marchés Financiers, has agreed to allow firms listing on the NYSE Euronext to rely on their U.S. filings in France.

The AMF says that, in response to a request made by NYSE Euronext, it has agreed to consider that, for issuers listed on NYSE markets, and seeking to be admitted to trading on Euronext Paris without making a public offering in France, the documents filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission can constitute valid filing for the purpose of approving the prospectus in France. This approval would be facilitated in case of pre-existing review by the SEC, it adds.

The regulator says that this decision is based on the conclusion reached by the AMF that the U.S. standards and the oversight that applies to an issuer seeking a listing on a U.S. exchange are equivalent to the European requirements.
