(February 8 – 09:15 ET) – It is being widely reported this morning that Ontario’s Attorney General, Jim Flaherty, is going to replace Ernie Eves as Ontario’s Finance minister.
Flaherty is an MPP from Whitby-Ajax. He was first elected in 1995 and was appointed Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Native Affairs on June 17, 1999. He has previously served as Minister of Labour, and as Solicitor General and Minister of Correctional Services. Flaherty is a member of the Policy, Priorities and Communications Board of Cabinet, Chair of the Education Committee of Cabinet, and a member of the SuperBuild Committee of Cabinet.
He graduated from Princeton University cum laude and Osgoode Hall Law School. He is a lawyer and author, married with three sons.
Flaherty replaces Eves who resigned last week for an investment banking job with Credit Suisse First Boston.
