The Commission des valeurs mobilieres du Quebec is hosting members of the Council of Securities Regulators of the Americas in Montreal, from October 3 to 6.

COSRA includes representatives from securities regulatory authorities of the Americas and Caribbean, including the CVMQ. Its members work together to develop a regulatory structure that is based on market integrity and efficiency as well as on investor protection.

Among the subjects that will be discussed in more detail during this meeting are investor education, systems for settling securities transactions and the establishment of COSRA’s future strategic orientations.

Delegates will also consider the objectives and principles of the International Organization of Securities Commissions. Between 30 and 40 participants are expected in Montreal for the meeting.

“I am proud to welcome COSRA members to Quebec to discuss investor education, among other things, as this issue is a priority for the CVMQ and around the world,” emphasized Carmen Crepin, chair of the CVMQ.

“These meetings enable us to coordinate our efforts in order to adapt to ever-changing financial markets. When possible, we try to harmonize international regulations, familiarize ourselves with the most recent developments and, most importantly, share our experiences and exchange information.”
