The Canadian Securities Administrators have published a list of all the local exceptions to the new national rule governing prospectus and registration exemptions.
The new harmonized rule takes effect September 14. It consolidates and harmonizes most of the prospectus and registration exemptions contained in various provincial statutes and national, multilateral and local instruments into a single national instrument. However, there remain a series of local exceptions to the rule in each jurisdiction.
When the CSA published the final version of the rule on July 8, it also pledged to compile a list of local exceptions. These exemptions are listed by jurisdiction and are available only in that jurisdiction.
