The B.C. Securities Commission is back on the road this fall with a series of free seminars warning B.C. investors about investment frauds and scams.

“Once again this fall, we are giving our popular seminar ‘Investigate before you invest’ to over 35 groups throughout B.C. in partnership with credit unions, seniors and youth groups,” said BCSC Chair Doug Hyndman, in a news release.

Starting this week, representatives from the securities commission will be in Parksville and Fort St. John. Next week, seminars are slated for Nanaimo and Burnaby.

The seminars will show people how to protect themselves and their investments from frauds and unscrupulous salespeople. Investors will earn how to identify an investment scam, how to check out the background of a financial advisor and how to determine if an investment is suitable for them.
