(March 12 – 11:30 ET) – The Canadian Securities Administrators has established a Mining Technical Advisory and Monitoring Committee The MTAMC was struck to provide advice to the CSA on issues relating to the application of National Instrument 43-101.
The CSA say their objective was to select an advisory committee small enough in size to facilitate efficiency yet large enough to permit broad, professional industry-sector and regional representation.
From over 30 applications, the CSA has selected nine individuals to sit on the committee. They have agreed to serve an initial two-year term.
They committee members are:
- George Cavey, President/Senior Geologist, OreQuest Consultants Ltd., Vancouver, B.C.;
- John M. Morganti, Vice President, Evaluations, Teck Corp., Vancouver, B.C.;
- Marie-Josee Girard, Geologist, Sirios Resources, Montreal, PQ;
- Philip E. Olson, Vice President, ExplorationClaude Resources Inc., Saskatoon, SK;
- Ken Grace, Economic Geologist & Vice President; Micon International, Toronto, ON;
- John Postle, Consulting Mining Engineer Roscoe Postle Associates, Toronto, ON;
- Keith McCandlish, Manager, Mineral Services, Associated Mining Consultants, Ltd., Calgary, AB;
- Kenneth Shannon, President, Corriente Resources Inc., Surrey, B.C.; and
- Chester Moore, Manager, Ore Reserves & Project Evaluation, Falconbridge Ltd.,Toronto, ON.
The MTAMC will be co-chaired by Deborah McCombe, chief mining consultant of the Ontario Securities Commission and Adrianne Marskell, senior legal counsel of the British Columbia Securities Commission.
Fran Manns, mining specialist of the Toronto Stock Exchange and James Mackie, technical advisor, corporate finance of the Canadian Venture Exchange will sit on the MTAMC as observers. The committee’s first meeting will be held in Toronto on March 15.
