(January 25 – 17:00 ET) – The Securities Industry Association in the U.S. is touting its new annual conference for financial advisors. The first-ever event, titled “Controlling Your Destiny,” is scheduled for Thursday June 8 to Saturday June 10 at The Drake Hotel in Chicago.

“The purpose of the conference is to allow financial consultants to expand their skills and knowledge so they can better serve their clients,” says Russ Labrasca, conference chair and senior vice president State Street Research Investment Services.

The program is designed to give brokers both educational and business development advice through a series of general sessions and breakouts. Topics include: “technology and the financial advisor”, “building effective teams”, “increasing sales through adaptability”, and “transitioning from transaction-based to fee-based business.”

It will feature presenters such as Joe “The Bull” Battipaglia, chief investment strategist at Gruntal & Co., and Jeremy Siegel, professor of finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

The conference is open only to SIA member-firms and self-regulatory organizations at the cost of US$499. To register contact Mary Ann Battista at 212-618-0577 or register online.
