(June 22 – 10:10 ET) – Human Resources Development Canada today announced the Old Age Security benefit rates for July, August and September 2000.

The basic Old Age Security pension, paid to people 65 years of age and over, will be $424.12 per month. This is an increase of 0.9% per month over the rate for the previous three months.

The maximum Guaranteed Income Supplement, Spouse’s Allowance and Widowed Spouse’s Allowance, which are based on the recipient’s family income during the previous year, are also increasing by 0.9%.
