Nearly 500 participants from Wall Street, Bay Street and Granville Street will take part in the 6th Annual Bay Street Pro-Celebrity Softball Challenge this year.
The Softball Challenge is a chance for members of the financial industry to come together for fun, fitness and fundraising for the Bloorview MacMillan Children’s Foundation for children with disabilities.
The Bloorview MacMillan Children’s Centre is Ontario’s largest facility for young people with disabilities and special needs.
In 2001, the 5th Annual Bay Street Pro-Celebrity Softball Challenge Family included eighteen softball teams, seven of those teams from Wall Street. The remaining teams included Canadian firms: Canaccord Capital Corporation, Schwab Capital Markets, Griffiths McBurney & Partners, Altimira Management & Partners, Credit Suisse First Boston Corporation, Raymond James & Associates, BMO Nesbitt Burns, Salida Capital, and TD Securities.
A total of $150 000 was raised for the Children’s Centre, bringing the grand total from the past 5 years to over $570,000 for the Bloorview MacMillan Children’s Foundation. The goal for this year’s softball challenge is to raise $250,000 and further increase the participation numbers.
The tournament will be held on Friday, July 12th and Saturday, July 13th at Riverdale Flats in Toronto.
