(April 26 – 18:20 ET) – The Canada Customs and Revenue Agency is now offering Canadian businesses a new way to file their goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax (GST/HST) returns.
GST/HST Telefile allows selected business clients to file their GST/HST returns electronically. Eligible business clients can file their returns using their touch-tone telephone and a toll-free number. CCRA says the service cuts down processing time, eliminates the need to mail paper returns, and speeds up refunds.
“The CCRA fosters a very innovative approach to client service, and GST/HST TELEFILE is an excellent example of the CCRA’s commitment to client service excellence. It also demonstrates the CCRA’s responsiveness to the needs of the Canadian business community in offering a more efficient alternative to filing paper-based returns” noted Martin Cauchon, Minister of National Revenue.
Eligible business clients who have nil GST/HST returns or who expect refunds of $10,000 or less will be able to use GST/HST TELEFILE to file their returns. The service is available Monday to Friday (except statutory holidays) from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time in all time zones throughout Canada.
