(September 30 – 10:30 ET) – Canada Investment and Savings, today launched a national awareness campaign aimed at providing Canadian youth with a better understanding
of the value of saving.
The campaign’s message is “Start Early and Save.” It’s a cooperative venture with the Canadian Library Association, l’Association pour l’avancement des sciences et des techniques de la documentation (ASTED), YTV Canada Inc. and Groupe TVA. The programming seeks to stimulate awareness about the value of saving, highlight the Internet as a tool for information sharing, and encourage youth to take advantage of the vast resources of Canada’s public libraries.
“We have designed a program to make saving more relevant to young Canadians,” said Jacqueline Orange, President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Investment and Savings, the Special Operating Agency responsible for Canada Savings Bonds. “We’ve assembled a number of like-minded organizations and through their networks and the Internet our goal is to reach out and support youth nationally with the resources to better understand the fundamental concepts of saving.”
`This is a unique way to tie our libraries into a national program,”said Vicki Whitmell, Executive Director, Canadian Library Association. “It’s also fun for kids to pursue information about something they are interested in enough to save for, and learn the basics of research, whether through books or on a computer.”
