(October 6 – 11:35 ET) –
The Canadian Association of
Insurance and Financial Advisors
will “lead the way in a changing
financial services industry,”
pledged chairman, Jim Rogers as
he closed of the CAIFA annual
conference in Vancouver .
CAIFA itself must evolve from a
trade association to a professional
association, said Rogers. It must
insist that its members hold at
least one professional financial
services designation. CAIFA
membership has shown its support
for that mandate at the conference,
he said.
CAIFA has also pledged to
establish several other regulatory
innovations including a searchable
online database of qualified
financial advisors.
CAIFA’s next annual conference
will be held in Saskatoon,
September 23-26, 2000.
