The Canadian Association of Insurance and Financial Advisor’s 2001 National Conference wrapped up today in Toronto. Conference organizers bill the event as their most successful conference to date.

During the conference, delegates adopted a new, stronger Code of Professional Conduct for CAIFA members, which will institute both performance and application standards along with an enhanced disciplinary process.

Calgary-based Lee Raine was elected chairman of the association for the 2001-2002 term along with a new slate of directors. CAIFA’s board of directors, headed by Raine, will focus its efforts on the continued promotion of the value of professional advice offered by CAIFA members.

Raine praised the content provided by conference speakers and presenters. Among the most popular was a talk given by Harvard researcher Juan Enriquez-Cabot, who spoke to attendees on how new developments in genomics and genetic engineering will affect their lives and businesses.”

The content at the sessions was simply stellar,” said Raine.. “I’ve had advisors coming up to me saying that they’ve never experienced the same level of depth at professional development events they’ve attended in the past. The content we’ve experience these past three days is another example of CAIFA’s commitment to advancing the professionalism of our members and this industry,” he added.

Delegates and attendees are expected to gather again one year from now in Ottawa at the CAIFA 2002 Annual General Meeting and National Conference scheduled to take place Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, 2002.
