Toronto-based TMX Group Ltd. announced on Monday that it has welcomed a former executive of Atlanta-based Intercontinental Exchange Inc. (ICE) into the fold as its new chief information officer.

Jay Rajarathinam, former senior vice president and global head of infrastructure with ICE, is now responsible for the development and execution of TMX Group’s overall technology vision and strategy. His areas of focus will include optimizing the company’s technology assets and leading ongoing technology operations and integration initiatives.

Rajarathinam has also held senior positions in London, U.K.-based Barclays PLC and San Francisco-based Wells Fargo and Co. His background includes managing global teams across a wide range of infrastructure and application domains, including high-performance computing, trading systems and other networks.

His new role is currently in effect and he is reporting to Jean Desgagné, president and CEO of global enterprise services, which is responsible for delivering technology services to TMX Group.

“Jay brings both deep exchange technology expertise and direct industry experience to the role, and I look forward to collaborating with him to determine the next key steps as we continue to transform our company into a technology provider that puts clients first,” says Desgagné in a statement.
