The Portfolio Management Association of Canada (PMAC) is welcoming new faces — and a new chairman — to its board of directors for 2016-17.

Eric Léveillé, managing director of Toronto-based BlackRock Asset Management Canada Ltd., previously vice chairman and treasurer, was elected to lead the board over the next year.

“I’m very proud to be taking on the role of board [chairman] at a time of unprecedented change in global markets, the political environment and the industry,” says Léveillé in a statement on Thursday.

“PMAC’s board is committed to serving our growing and increasingly diverse group of over 230 asset-management firms,” he adds. “Our members may vary in size, client base, investment philosophy or business model, but the common bond is our commitment to the highest industry standards and as fiduciaries, putting clients’ needs and objectives first and foremost.”

The board is also comprised of four newly appointed directors, including:

  • Dona Eull-Schultz, president of Toronto-based Leon Frazer & Associates Inc.
  • Thomas Johnston, senior vice president at Toronto-based CI Investments Inc.’s institutional asset-management arm.
  • Lucas Pontillo, chief operating officer for Canada at Toronto-based Manulife Asset Management Ltd.
  • Marc Trottier, co-managing director of Toronto-based Coerente Capital Management Inc.
