FAIR Canada not in favour of regulators’ stance on best interest standard

Toronto-based DUCA Financial Services Ltd. has announced the hiring of Doug Conick as CEO effective in November.

Conick is an experienced senior executive whose most recent leadership role was as president and CEO of the banking arm of Toronto-based Manulife Financial Corp. He has spent more than 20 years in the financial services sector, including stints as director and advisor to a variety of financial services firms and financial technology companies, according to an announcement released on Wednesday.

“Mr. Conick brings a wealth of financial services expertise to DUCA,” says Tom Vandeloo, DUCA’s chairman, in a statement. “His clear and strategic thinking, along with his passion for the credit union system will be an important guide for us as we continue to grow and evolve as a financial institution.”

Conick replaces Richard Senechal, who left the position of CEO earlier this year.

“We have a great opportunity in front of us at DUCA,” says Conick in a statement. “I look forward to getting started and building on DUCA’s history of success.”
