Monique Gravel is retiring as managing director and head of Toronto-based CIBC Wood Gundy after almost 40 years with the brokerage.

Gravel, who began her career as an investment advisor with Wood Gundy in 1978, will be retiring at the end of June, according to an internal memo.

During her tenure at the bank, Gravel became a member of CIBC’s Chairman’s Council and eventually moved into a management role as a branch manager in 1997. She took on the leadership of CIBC Wood Gundy in 2009.

Following Gravel’s departure, Peter Lee, managing director and head of Private Wealth Management at CIBC, will take over management of Wood Gundy. Lee will act as head of both the Private Wealth Management and brokerage divisions at CIBC. Prior to his current role, Lee was managing director, national product and sales, with CIBC Wood Gundy.
