The head of U.S. banking giant, JP Morgan Chase, Jamie Dimon, announced that he will soon start treatment for throat cancer.

Dimon revealed the news in a message to the bank’s employees and shareholders on the evening of July 1. “The good news is that the prognosis from my doctors is excellent, the cancer was caught quickly, and my condition is curable,” he said.

He is expecting to undergo about eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy, but does not plan to relinquish his duties as chairman and CEO of the bank at this point.

“While the treatment will curtail my travel during this period, I have been advised that I will be able to continue to be actively involved in our business, and we will continue to run the company as normal,” he said, adding that the bank’s board “is totally supportive.”
