Edmonton-based Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) on Wednesday announced the appointment of industry veteran Helen Kearns to its board of directors.
AIMCo invests on behalf of 27 pension, endowment and government funds in Alberta, including the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund.
Kearns, who is currently president & CEO of Bell Kearns & Associates Ltd., has worked in capital markets in Canada for over 30 years, starting in institutional equity sales at Richardson Greenshields of Canada Ltd., where she ultimately became head of institutional sales and trading. She was also president of Nasdaq Canada from 2001 to 2004, and she ran her own institutional investment firm, Kearns Capital Ltd.
“Ms. Kearns brings extensive investment experience to the board, coupled with meaningful insight into AIMCo’s clients and their unique needs,” said Mac Van Wielingen, AIMCo chairman.
AIMCo also re-appointed Harold Roozen to the board.
