CPP Investment Board senior managing director and chief investment strategist, Edwin Cass, is joining the board of financial information firm, Markit Ltd.

Cass was nominated to Markit’s board by the CPPIB, which has the right to nominate one director, in consultation with the firm’s nominating and governance committee. He qualifies as an independent director, and he has also been appointed to the company’s audit and risk committee.

At the CPPIB, Cass chairs the investment planning committee, which approves all new investment programs and oversees all portfolio risks. He has been with the firm since 2008, heading the global capital markets, global corporate securities, and global tactical asset allocation groups within the public market investments department. Before joining the CPPIB, Cass was a managing director and co-chief investment officer for Fortress Investment Group’s Drawbridge Relative Value Fund; he has also worked at Deutsche Bank and TD Securities Inc.

“We’re delighted that Ed has joined our board. His strong investment, governance and leadership skills, developed over a 20-year career with buyside and sellside financial institutions, will be a tremendous asset to our board and company,” said Lance Uggla, chairman and CEO of Markit.
