Victor Dodig, president and CEO of CIBC, has joined the board of a Toronto-based economic think tank.

The C.D. Howe Institute said Monday that Dodig is the most recent addition to its board. The non-profit research institute aims to raise living standards by “fostering economically sound public policies”.

Dodig was appointed president and CEO of CIBC last year. Prior to joining the bank, he was managing director and CEO in Canada for UBS Global Asset Management. He’s also spent time with Merrill Lynch and McKinsey and Co.

Dodig joined CIBC in 2005 as executive vice president, CIBC Wealth Management. In 2011, he became group head, wealth management, overseeing the bank’s brokerage, private wealth, and asset management businesses in both Canada and the U.S.

Dodig, who has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Harvard University, also sit son the Catalyst Canada Advisory Board.
