Corporate and securities law professor at the University of Toronto, Anita Anand, has been named a visiting fellow at policy think tank, the C.D. Howe Institute.

Among numerous other postings, Professor Anand, has been a visiting scholar at the Bank of Canada, and she was the first chair of the Ontario Securities Commission’s (OSC) Investor Advisory Panel (IAP), which was established in 2010. Over the years, she has conducted research for various industry committees, including the Five Year Review Committee, the Wise Person’s Committee, and the Task Force to Modernize Securities Legislation in Canada. Her research focuses on capital markets regulation, particularly corporate and securities law, as well as legal ethics and the corporation.

“Anita brings a wealth of knowledge to the research program, notably in capital markets regulation and performance,” said William Robson, president and CEO of the think tank. “We look forward to working with her to shape the Institute’s Governance and Economic Performance Initiative.”

Since 2010, she has been the academic director of the Centre for the Legal Profession at U of T, leading the development of its new program on ethics in law and business. She is also a senior fellow, Massey College, and is cross-appointed to the U of T’s School of Public Policy and Governance. And, she is editor of Canadian Law eJournal.
