Standard & Poor’s Canadian Index Operations is revising the composition of the S&P/TSX Composite index as a result of the it most recent quarterly index review.

The changes will be effective after the close of business on Friday, June 17.

Stocks joining the S&P/TSX composite index include:

  • ACE Aviation Holdings Inc. (ACE.RV);
  • Great Canadian Gaming Corp. (GCD);
  • NuVista Energy Ltd. (NVA);
  • OPTI Canada Inc. (OPC);
  • Pason Systems Inc. (PSI);
  • Real Resources Inc. (RER);
  • Reitman’s (Canada) Ltd. (RET.NV.A); and
  • Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Inc. (SWP).

The following issues are being deleted from the S&P/TSX composite index:

  • Coolbrands International Inc. (COB.SV.A);

  • Dundee Corporation (DBC.SV.A);
  • Fraser Papers Inc. (FPS);
  • Gabriel Resources Ltd. (GBU);
  • Gennum Corp. (GND); and
  • Zarlink Semiconductor Inc. (ZL).

S&P says changes to the S&P/TSX composite index will also affect the S&P/TSX capped composite index.

Company additions to and deletions from an S&P index do not in any way reflect an opinion on the investment merits of the company.
