Mackenzie Financial Corporation is calling special unitholder meetings in early May 2002, to consider a series of proposed changes.

Here are a few of the changes:

  • Mackenzie Universal Communications Fund to merge into and adopt the investment strategies of Mackenzie Universal World Science and Technology Capital Class;
  • Mackenzie Universal RSP Communications Fund to merge into and adopt the investment strategies of Mackenzie Universal RSP World Science and Technology Fund;
  • Mackenzie Universal RSP World Science and Technology Fund to modify its investment strategy such that it will closely track the performance of Mackenzie Universal World Science and Technology Capital Class; and
  • Mackenzie Universal World Science and Technology Fund to merge into Mackenzie Universal World Science and Technology Capital Class.

The proposed changes have been designed to reduce duplication within the funds or to combine smaller funds. By combining some funds, Mackenzie says it intends to allocate operational costs across a larger portfolio base and ultimately reduce unitholder expenses.

Information circulars will be mailed to investors in early April, with full details.
