(November 29 – 10:20 ET) – BMO Mutual Funds is introducing six new Global Tax Advantage Funds.
The funds are available through BMO Global Tax Advantage Funds Inc., a newly created corporate structure which allows investors to switch between the six funds within this group without realizing capital gains and triggering the associated capital gains taxes at the time of the switch. The capital gains are not realized until funds are redeemed or are switched out of the fund family.
Investors can choose from five global funds as well as a new short-term income fund. This special tax advantaged group of funds is recognized by the designation Class in their names.
“This new family of mutual funds provides two distinct advantages – global diversification and tax deferral benefits outside of an RRSP,” said Linda Knight, vice president, product management and delivery, BMO Mutual Funds.
BMO says the tax deferral benefits of the funds make them ideal for non-registered investments, but the funds are also available in RSP-eligible versions.
The investment management team for the funds includes Rothschild Asset Management, J.P. Morgan Investment Management, Harris Investment Management, Jones Heward Investment Counsel, Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. and State Street Global Advisors Ltd.
Rothschild Asset Management Ltd will manage two of the new funds, BMO Global Balanced Class and BMO Global Opportunities Class.
“These are the funds of the future, encapsulating our best stock and sector investment strategies of how we see the world developing over the next five and ten years,” said Christopher Jenkins, Rothschild Asset Management Ltd.
