Franklin Templeton Investments Corp. announced today that it is re-opening the Bissett Microcap Fund to new investments for a limited time period. Upon reaching $15 million in new investments, the fund will be re-closed to new investments.
“The Canadian market is presenting a growing number of good microcap investment opportunities,” said Christopher Fernyc, co-manager of the Bissett Microcap Fund. “Re-opening this fund provides Canadian investors with the ability to access the attractive microcap market through a fund solely dedicated to microcap investing.”
The fund invests primarily in small Canadian companies with less than $100 million in market capitalization. First created in August 1997, the fund was closed in February 2000, to preserve the integrity of its growth at a reasonable price style.
“Opening the fund to an additional $15 million in new investments will provide us with the money needed to take advantage of new opportunities in the microcap sector, while insuring that the fund stays at a manageable capacity and adheres to its investment style,” added Fernyc.
