Statford, Ont. advisor John Wilkinson was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal in a surprise ceremony yesterday evening.

Leila Khan Cruickshank, president of the Stratford chapter, and Sophie Skaith, regional director, western Ontario, both of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, presented the medal to Wilkinson at his firm’s holiday social.

Wilkinson, an advisor at Wilkinson, Steigmeier and Keller (WSK) Financial Planning Ltd., was recognized for his significant contributions to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for the past decade. WSK Financial first became involved in the fight against cystic fibrosis through its professional affiliation with The Canadian Association of Investors and Financial Advisors kn 1991.

After meeting the mother of a child with cystic fibrosis at a CAIFA meeting, Wilkinson, with the help of his associates, organized a Black Tie Gala in support of CF research and treatment. Now in its 10th year, the annual event raises more than $10,000 for the CCFF.

The Golden Jubilee Medal of Queen Elizabeth II commemorates the 50th anniversary of Her Majesty’s reign as Queen of Canada. The medal is being awarded to Canadians who have made a significant contribution to their fellow citizens, their community or to Canada.
