State Street Corp. announced that today employees from State Street’s Toronto office will partner with a local charitable organization to contribute to local community outreach efforts.

Toronto employees will assist the CHUM Charitable Foundation in sorting toys for the CHUMCity Christmas Wish annual toy drive. The CHUMCity Christmas Wish remains the largest distributor of toys to those in need in the Greater Toronto area, provides financial assistance to hundreds of agencies, and is the last hope for many to give a child a Christmas.

The volunteer program is part of State Street’s second annual Global Volunteer Day, and is organized in conjunction with the United Nations’ International Volunteer Day. Worldwide, over 600 employees from 23 State Street offices in eight countries will participate in volunteer efforts.

“We are extremely pleased by our employees’ enthusiastic response to our second annual State Street Volunteer Day,” said David Spina, State Street chairman and CEO.

State Street’s second annual Global Volunteer Day coincides with International Volunteer Day, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1981, to facilitate the vital contributions of volunteers worldwide, and to recognize their achievements.
