- Faisal Khorshid and Paul Bourgeault have joined Richardson Wealth from IG Wealth Management. The senior wealth advisors and principals of Khorshid Bourgeault Wealth Partners had been with IG Wealth for more than 20 years and 30 years, respectively. They join Richardson just ahead of its parent company RF Capital Group Inc.’s $597-million acquisition by iA Financial Corp. The merger is expected to close before the end of the year. Last week, Richardson lost three teams in Winnipeg to Raymond James Ltd.
- Greg Obertas and Tim Wyman have joined CIBC Wood Gundy after long tenures with TD Wealth Private Investment Advice, bringing their team at Longview Wealth Management with them. Both the senior portfolio managers spent more than 20 years with TD, and before that were vice-presidents and portfolio managers with RBC Dominion Securities for more than 15 years. Early in his career, Obertas was an oil and gas analyst with Wood Gundy, before it was acquired by CIBC.
- David M. Predovich and Jordan Alexander have joined CIBC Private Wealth Wood Gundy as senior portfolio managers and investment advisors. They and their team at Boulevard Group Wealth Management are departing TD Wealth Private Investment Advice after 15 years.
- A team of 11 advisors from Mallard Wealth Advisors has joined CI Assante Wealth, bringing $720 million in AUA from Quadrus Investment Services Ltd. They include senior wealth advisors Tanis Robertson, Donald Bristow, Sarah Kolla-Empey and Derek Kennedy, and advisors Michael Wong, Mitchell Haver, Carter Cheveldayoff and Britney Hayes. Mallard Wealth founder and past Advocis chair Brian Mallard has retired.
- Manmeet Bhatia has been named senior vice-president and head of private counsel at Wellington-Altus. Bhatia will lead the firm’s growing investment counsel and portfolio manager business. Bhatia brings more than 25 years of industry experience, having previously served as head of private wealth with Fiduciary Trust Co. Canada for more than three years, before being tapped to lead the firm as president and CEO in early 2023. Bhatia also spent 15 years with Aviso Wealth in executive roles focused on online brokerage and digital wealth product, product development, and as chief investment officer.
- Jonathan Lo will join Ninepoint Partners LP’s investment team as of Oct. 29. Lo is leaving Raymond James Ltd. where he was an associate portfolio manager for a short stint. He spent 13 years at AGF Investments as vice-president, growth equities. In his new position, he will work with senior portfolio manager Sam Mitter, supporting the Ninepoint Global Select Fund.
- Curtis Stange is retiring from ATB Financial after a 16-year career with the organization, including more than seven years as president and CEO. The company’s board is conducting a search for his successor, with the aim of announcing a new president and CEO in December. Stange will continue leading ATB Financial throughout the selection process and during the transition.
- Mary Forrest, president and CEO of Munich Re North America Life, will retire from Munich Re in early 2026 after 17 years in the position. Her responsibilities will transfer to Marc-Andre Giguère, president and CEO of Munich Re Life US, andBernard Naumann, president and CEO of the business in Canada and the Caribbean.
- Beneva has announced several new appointments as part of its efforts to strengthen its individual insurance and financial services. Josephine Gurreri was appointed vice-president, actuarial and distribution network compensation; Pier-Luc Grenon, vice-president, client relations and partner experience; and René Duchesne, vice-president, operations. Vice-presidents Michael Rogers, distribution networks career, and Chantal Auger, will now be responsible for the brokerage distribution network.
- Gillian (Jill) Denham has joined the board of directors at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. Denham has 20 years of leadership in financial services and is chair of Munich Reinsurance Co. of Canada and Temple Insurance Co. She also serves on the boards of Kinaxis Inc. and Coveo Solutions Inc.
