Federal Minister of Finance Ralph Goodale Friday announced nominations to the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

Goodale nominated Marcel Massé for a second term as executive director at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. Massé’s first term began in 2002. “It gives me great pleasure to nominate Mr. Massé to another term in this position,” said Goodale. “His understanding of the issues and experience in the field of international development make him a natural choice to represent Canada in this important post.”

Previously, Massé held a number of positions in the Privy Council Office and was twice named president of the Canadian International Development Agency. From 1993 to 1999 he served as member of Parliament for Hull-Aylmer. During that time he served as Minister Responsible for Public Service Renewal, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and President of the Treasury Board of Canada.

Goodale also nominated Kevin Lynch for the position of executive director for the Canadian, Irish and Caribbean constituency at the IMF. Lynch will replace Ian Bennett, who has served in the IMF post since September 2001. Lynch has been nominated for a two-year term starting Nov.1.
