The Investment Funds Institute of Canada reports that Gowan Guest has been appointed a Member of the Order of Canada.
Guest, a prominent business figure in Vancouver, served as Chairman of IFIC from 1987-1988 during which time he provided insightful and pace-setting leadership to the investment funds industry.
“Gowan Guest, in a manner that was both determined and focused, saw IFIC and the industry through Black Monday on October 19, 1987. He and the Board took several key steps that allowed IFIC to grow into the powerful, national organization that it is today,” stated Tom Hockin, president & CEO of IFIC.
He added: “IFIC congratulates Mr. Guest on this most prestigious award and is honoured to have been specifically cited in the announcement made by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada.”
Guest’s appointment to the Order of Canada was effective as of October 18, 2001. The Order of Canada was established in 1967 to recognize outstanding achievement and service in various fields of human endeavour.
