Robert Dubrule, an employee of the federal public service, was fined $23,700 after pleading guilty to charges of tax evasion. The amount of the fine represents more than 150% of the tax evaded.

An investigation by the CCRA revealed that Dubrule, who volunteered as a canvasser for charitable organizations, forged false charitable receipts that he used to claim tax credits on his income tax returns.

For the 1997 to 2000 tax years, Dubrule was charged with claiming more than $61,800 in false charitable donations and evading payment of more than $15,780 in tax.
