Ron Lloyd has left the executive suite Merrill Lynch Canada Ltd. to head up CSFB Canada as chairman and CEO.
At CSFB Lloyd will run the firm’s Canadian investment banking business. Lloyd has been with Merrill for the past six years, most recently as chairman of the firm in Canada and president and chief operating officer of Merrill Lynch Canada Inc. Before joining Merrill, he also served as executive vice president at Barrick Gold Corp. and TrizecHahn.
Lloyd “is a trusted advisor to many of the leading corporations in Canada as well as a proven manager. Under Ron’s leadership, we look forward to building on the success of this key component of our Americas banking franchise,” said Brady Dougan, CEO of CSFB.
In Canada, CSFB was involved in the merger of PanCanadian Energy and Alberta Energy to form Encana Corp.; the sale of Westcoast Energy to Duke Energy; Canada Life’s sale to Great-West Lifeco; and BCE’s acquisition of SBC Communications’ 20% stake in Bell Canada.
Lloyd was recently appointed vice chairman of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada. He also sits on the board of North York General Hospital.
