CIBC’s 2002 United Way campaign in the greater Toronto area was its best ever, as the company, its employees and pensioners raised over $4.5 million – a 10% jump over the previous year.
CIBC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Hunkin will present the cheque to United Way president, Frances Lankin, at a special reception hosted by CIBC on Monday. “I am extremely proud of the hard work and commitment shown by our employees to this important cause,” says Hunkin. “The United Way plays a vital role in helping people in our community and it gives me great pleasure to know that we are able to provide such a strong level of support for the work it does.”
The funds raised through employee-run special events triple over last year. On a national basis, preliminary numbers indicate an equally successful campaign for the United Way with funds raised by CIBC of over $6.5 million.
