(December 16 – 12:10 ET) – The Canadian Bankers Association has appointed Denise Harrington as the Vice-President, Public Affairs for the association.

Harrington is currently an independent communications consultant. Her past experience includes six years as the national parliamentary correspondent for CBC’s The National. Harrington reported on a wide range of public policy issues and significant national debates from federal election campaigns to constitutional matters. In addition, Harrington has been the Queen’s Park Bureau Chief for the Toronto Star and reported for both the Ottawa Citizen and Edmonton Journal.

She will begin her duties on February 14, 2000. She will be responsible for all Public Affairs activities of the association including: government relations, media relations, communications, the Building a Better Understanding Program and Canadian Banker Magazine.
