(November 1 – 17:20 ET) – Tim O’Neill, chief economist at Bank of Montreal has been appointed to the board of governors of the Washington-based National Association for Business Economics, the world’s largest association of business economists.

The organization has 3,000 members representing more than 1,500 businesses and organizations around the world, who have an interest in business economics, and who want to employ the latest economic data and trends to enhance their ability to make sound business decisions.

O’Neill is the first Canadian economist elected to the NABE board. O’Neill’s appointment to the 16-member Board of Governors is for three years.

Since its founding in 1959, NABE has attracted the attention of the most influential and prestigious economic leaders in business. Past presidents have included several former U.S. Federal Reserve governors, the current chairman of the board of governors for the Federal Reserve System, Alan Greenspan and other senior business leaders.

The association’s analyses, industry and economic surveys, have made NABE one of the most widely quoted business economics organizations in the U.S.
