Alberta’s revenue minister, Greg Melchin, is on a mission to New York this week to meet with fund managers and visit the New York Stock Exchange.

“As the Minister of Revenue, it is important to regularly meet with the firms and individuals who assist in the management of the province’s investment operations of over $35 billion,” Melchin said. “These ongoing business partnerships are invaluable in supporting the province’s investment strategies.”

While in New York, Melchin will also meet with officials and tour the New York Stock Exchange. He will be ringing the opening bell on July 30. There are currently 20 Alberta-based companies listed on the NYSE, with an estimated market cap of $100 billion.

Melchin will be joined his executive assistant. The total cost of the trip is expected to be approximately $7,000.
