Financial technology startups will have access to $230,000 in prize funding during the Canada FinTech Forum in Montreal later this month, event organizer Finance Montréal announced Tuesday.

The ten finalists vying for investment in the FinTech Start-up Pitch Contest are: Cinchy, CreditScript, Fligoo, Goose Insurance, Lendified Technologies, Nesto, OWL.CO, QuantCube Technology, Senso.ai and Symend.

The prizes include a $15,000 public’s choice prize offered by Mackenzie Investments, a $15,000 in-kind communication services prize offered by Edelman Montreal, two jury prizes of $25,000 each offered by Finance Montréal, as well as a $150,000 financing offer from Luge Capital.

Janet Yellen, former chairwoman of the U.S. Federal Reserve, will open the forum. She, along with more than 70 speakers, will discuss the theme of “Open Innovation in Financial Services.”

“The Canada FinTech Forum is an essential event in the financial technology sector. In addition to its conferences and activities, it provides the ideal setting for start-ups and investors to network and do business,” Paul Desmarais III, senior vice president of Montreal-based Power Corp. of Canada and honorary president of the 2018 Canada FinTech Forum, says in a statement.

The forum will take place from Oct. 29 to 31 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.
