(October 14 – 16:15 ET) –
The Securities and Exchange
Commission has approved the
Chicago Stock Exchange ‘s after-
hours trading plans and Nasdaq’s
extended trade reporting and
quotation proposal.

The SEC has accelerated
approval of these plans, it says,
because they are likely to
increase market transparency and
investor protection.

The Chicago exchange is
starting its after-hours session
on October 29th. It
will initiate its so-called “E-
Session” from 16:30 EST to 18:30
EST. During the session specialists
will trade limit orders in selected
securities and a consolidated tape
will report market data and
quotes.

On October 25th,
Nasdaq will extend its trade
reporting and quotation services
until 18:30 EST.

The SEC notes that regular
closing price data will still be
available after the normal market
close at 16:00 EST.
