The Ontario Securities Commission has issued a staff notice on the creation of a common registration renewal date.

The OSC says that the Web-based registration system, called the National Registration Database, will require all registrants to have a common renewal date of December 31.

In order to make the adjustment to a common renewal date, all registrations and renewals occurring under the Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act between January 1, 2001 and November 30 will be effective until December 31. Registration fees will be prorated accordingly.

All registrants that have been renewed past December 31 will have their renewal date changed to December 31 and fees will be refunded.
