Each week, we summarize notable moves across the financial industry.

  • Tayfun Tuzun will be retiring as CFO of BMO Financial Group in early 2026 after four years in the role. Rahul Nalgirkar, who is currently CFO of BMO U.S., will succeed him as of Jan 1. Nalgirkar will take on the role of deputy CFO in the interim. A relatively new hire at BMO, Nalgirkar was appointed CFO of BMO U.S. and of BMO’s commercial banking businesses in Canada and the U.S. in 2022. He previously served as line of business group CFO at Fifth Third Bank, and has also held corporate finance roles at GE Capital, Citigroup and CIT. After his retirement, Tuzun will continue to sit on the board of BMO’s U.S. subsidiary, BMO Financial Corp., which he joined in 2023.
  • Ted Bader has joined CI Financial as senior vice-president and head of business development for Canadian Wealth. Bader has more than 20 years of experience in Canada’s financial services industry, including in senior roles at BlackRock and Claymore Investments. He was most recently president of SIA Wealth Management. In his new position, he will be spearheading growth efforts across CI Assante Wealth Management, Aligned Capital Partners and CI Investment Services. Robert Moher has been named chief compliance officer of CI Assante Wealth Management and will also lead the compliance function across CI Wealth’s retail advisory operations. He joins CI from Global X Canada, and has also held senior compliance roles at Aviso Wealth, IGM Financial and BMO Financial Group. And Casimir Litwin has been appointed chief compliance officer and VP compliance at CI Digital Wealth, overseeing CI Direct Investing and CI Direct Trading. He has more than 30 years of industry experience in compliance and privacy roles, including Investment Planning Counsel, Canfin Magellan Investments and Sun Life Financial. The new appointments follow Mubadala Capital’s acquisition of CI Financial, which closed in August, and recent acquisitions of two European money managers by CI Financial’s U.S. arm.
  • Bruno Guilmette has joined Fiera Capital as global head of infrastructure. Guilmette brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across infrastructure investment, renewable energy and capital markets, most recently as CFO and executive vice-president at Boralex. He’s also held senior roles at La Caisse and PSP Investments, and sits on the board of directors of Canada Infrastructure Bank. Alina Osorio will step down as president of Fiera Infrastructure, a role she’s held since 2016, but continue as a member of its board of directors and investment committee. Ciaran Henry has been named global head of investor relations, infrastructure. He was previously senior vice-president and head of distribution for Europe and Asia at Fiera Capital, and more recently has served as a managing director at Brookwood Financial Ltd. and as Sagard’s head of distribution, Asia and Europe.
  • Pierre Luc Gariepy has been appointed director of business development at Schroders Capital, based in Canada. Gariepy has over 25 years of asset management experience, and joins Schroders from Mercer, where he served as co-leader of alternative investments, Canada. He’s also held roles at UBS Asset Management, CIBC Asset Management and Deutsche Asset Management.
  • Matthew Doelman has been appointed branch manager of Canaccord Genuity’s Ottawa office, as well as senior investment advisor. He previously was on the firm’s institutional equity sales team, starting in 2014. John Albright has joined the board of Canaccord Genuity Group Inc. Albright brings nearly four decades of experience in commercial leadership and governance across corporate finance and technology, and is cofounder and managing partner of Relay Ventures, a venture capital firm specializing in fintech.
  • Johanne Papillon and Yousry Bissada have joined iA Financial Corp.’s board of directors. Papillon is an actuary with over 25 years of experience in financial services and executive level experience with Sun Life Financial Inc. and Manulife Financial. Bissada was previously president and CEO of Home Trust and Home Bank, as well as CEO of Kanetix Ltd.
  • Two new members have elected to the board of the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization after having been appointed in the past year. Kevin Kennedy is executive vice-president and head of North American markets at Nasdaq, with over 35 years of capital markets experience. Helena Gottschling was chief human resources officer at RBC before retiring in 2022.
  • Eliot Pikoulis has been appointed chief information officer of CFA Institute’s digital transformation journey. He brings more than two decades of global technology leadership experience, including as chief technology executive at Pearson.
