(October 25 – 12:30 ET) – The IDA is beefing up its registration service. The organization says that many of its members have recently experienced delays in registration approval. The IDA says it has reviewed both its staffing levels and procedures, particularly in the Toronto and Vancouver offices.

It has determined that the delays are partly attributable to increased volume. It has added to its registration staff in both Toronto and Vancouver to help deal with these increases.

The other principal cause of the delays is that an “extremely high percentage” of applications are deficient when filed. Common deficiencies include unanswered questions, failure to file standard supporting documents and failure to include the required fees.

Effective immediately, all incoming applications will undergo a preliminary completeness check, and incomplete applications will be returned to the filing firm with a checklist showing what is missing. Applications which pass the preliminary check will processed immediately.
