The Investment Dealers Association of Canada has hired Paul Bourque as senior vice president, member regulation. The appointment commences June 4.
Bourque is currently the Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Attorney General, Government of Alberta. He has held a number of important regulatory positions, including director of market operations of the Ontario Securities Commission and director of enforcement and executive director of the British Columbia Securities Commission.
“Paul has significant securities regulatory experience and has managed large and complex organizations. He knows the IDA and shares our commitment to investor protection and the integrity of the Canadian capital markets. Paul will enhance our ability to provide proactive and transparent regulation in the public interest,” said Joe Oliver, IDA president and CEO in a statement.
IDA Chairman Jacques Ménard stated “I am delighted that we are able to attract a person of Mr. Bourque’s experience and capability to this important position. His appointment demonstrates the Association’s commitment to investor protection”.
