(February 6 – 10:20 ET) – Rampart Securities Inc. has disclosed a couple of high-profile resignations from the firm.
Rampart Mercantile, Rampart Securities’ parent, reports that Sean Shanahan has resigned as chairman and a director of Rampart Securities. The firm says that Shanahan resigned to focus his attention on generating profits rather than managing the business. In a statement, Shanahan said, “I strongly believe in Rampart, and because of this conviction I feel that my energies are best spent doing what I do best, creating substantial revenues for the company.”
The firm also reported that Nicolas Tsaconakos has also resigned as a director of Rampart Securities. Tsaconakos rose to prominence when he became involved with now-defunct Fortune Financial Corp.’s attempt to create an independent financial powerhouse Destiny Financial Group.
Rampart also announced that it has opened an office in Montreal. The new office is the fourth in a series of branches to be opened by Rampart Securities in its drive to become a national firm.
The Montreal office is managed by Richard Hamelin, formerly with Canaccord. Hamelin is joined by Andre Bergeron, Marc Henri, Marc Beaudoin and Margaret Frappier, also formerly with Canaccord. Diane Boudreault, formerly with Rampart in Toronto; James Haight and Robert Ward, formerly with Jones & Gable; and Nick Lionessa and Sean McCaffrey, from Merrill Lynch round out the Montreal line-up.
