CIBC Chairman and CEO John Hunkin today announced two senior executive promotions.
Jill Denham, Sr. EVP, retail markets, has been promoted to vice chair, retail markets, and Gerry McCaughey, Sr. EVP, wealth management, has been promoted to vice chair, wealth management. Both will continue to report to John Hunkin.
“Jill Denham has demonstrated superb leadership throughout her career and especially since taking the helm at CIBC’s retail markets. This promotion reflects both the strategic importance we attach to this sector, as well as Jill’s success in improving the performance of Retail Markets and delivering greater value to our customers,” Hunkin said.
“Gerry is an acknowledged leader in the Canadian investment industry and has demonstrated the vision and drive to keep wealth management performing at the very highest levels. This promotion reflects the increasing importance of Wealth Management to CIBC’s ongoing success,” Hunkin added.
Denham, 42, was named Sr. EVP, retail markets and small business banking in September 2001. She was educated at the University of Western Ontario School of Business Administration, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. She also received a Master in Business Administration in 1990 at Harvard Business School.
McCaughey, 47, began his career in 1981 as an account executive with Merrill Lynch in Montreal. In 1994, he was appointed president of Wood Gundy Private Client Investments, the private client division of CIBC Wood Gundy Securities Inc.
He graduated from Concordia University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
